Joseph Kimani Kigatha uses a spray to get rid of offending insects on the turf at the Amahor Stadium, Kigali. Scores of workers meticulously work on the lush turf removing weed to make it perfect for the start of the Cecafa Kagame Cup Club Championship in Kigali on Saturday. The pitch was renovated by a Kenyan company, Diani Flowers and Landscaping of Gigiri, Nairobi one of whose "greens" expert, Kimani, is resident in Kigali to take care of the pitch. Ministry of Sports and Culture top official Gaspard Kayijuka said the government spends millions of shillings to keep the facility in good shape. "We contracted Kenyans and brought this excellent 'Kikuyu' grass here in 2008. We wanted a perfect surface for last year's Africa under-20 championship. The grass is excellent but needs care.
